Dental sealants are plastic coatings used to fill deep grooves and pits in the chewing surfaces of molar and pre-molar teeth. The sealant material covers the hard-to-clean areas and works as a layer of protection to help prevent decay-causing bacteria from penetrating the tooth surface.

Sealants are an easy "drill-less" way to prevent decay in your child's teeth. We also recommend them for adult teeth that have not had restorative work. The process is simple - we first clean the tooth and apply a preparation solution to roughen the surface. The sealant material is then painted on and cured with a special dental light.

Sealants withstand normal biting and chewing, and can last for a long time. We will check your sealants at your cleaning visits to make sure that they are still intact and can easily re-apply the sealant material if needed.
